Our Pharmacy
On your doctor’s advice, you may be prescribed chemotherapy or other medicine-based treatments. Your doctor will then need to supply a prescription and instructions regarding your treatment to our pharmacy department.
How We Help You
Just as with other medications, the government covers much of the cost of the treatment through Pharmaceutical Benefits Scheme (PBS). At the pharmacy, we process the prescription and submit the claim to the government for co-payment of your medications. You would then be issued with an account for the cost of the medication not covered by the PBS.
If your health fund is contracted with Southern Medical Day Care Centre, you will be issued an account for medication dispensed on discharge. If your health fund is not contracted with Southern Medical Day Care Centre, you will be issued with an account for all medication dispensed from our pharmacy.
In order for us to access this scheme on your behalf, we have included a pharmacy consent form for you to complete. The form provides us information such as your Medicare, Pension, Concession, Health Care Card or Safety Net Number, thus ensuring you are not overcharged.
Once the account is paid by you, the amount can be added towards your safety net. Payment can be made by cash, cheque or EFTPOS. We can send you records of your Safety Net spending on request, or we can apply for a Safety Net card on your behalf when your reach your threshold. If you have any queries regarding this process, or your account, please contact us on 02 4227 1816.
